APPLY NOW for this unique opportunity & be part of the upcoming winter season starting February & March 2025!THE ROLE: We are recruiting qualified CERTIFYING PLUMBERS with commercial experience to work at on the American base, McMurdo Station.
This large new build project will involve all aspects of commercial plumbing, as well as basic plumbing tasks & repetitive duties.
The role also includes assisting other trades & performing general labouring jobs, as everyone needs to pitch in & help the team.
WHAT YOU NEED:
- VACCINATION REQUIREMENT: Fully vaccinated for Covid-19 due to Antarctica travel requirements.
- LICENSING: Hold a current NZ Certifying Plumbing Licence & be able to provide proof at the interview.
- REFERENCES: Provide referees who can validate your commercial experience.
- EXPERIENCE: Submit a current detailed CV outlining your skills, experience, &d types of commercial projects you have worked on.
- IT SKILLS: Competent in handling a lot of detailed paperwork & IT-related tasks.
- PATIENCE: The application process is thorough & will take several months to complete. Be prepared for a detailed & lengthy process.
- TEAM PLAYER: A positive attitude & willingness to be part of a hardworking, supportive team are crucial. Remote projects require a solid team effort.
- FITNESS: Exceptional fitness is necessary due to long hours & extreme conditions.
- TRAVEL: Flights provided from any major NZ airport.

- RATES: $62.78 per hour on a contract basis, paid fortnightly in NZ$
- EQUIPMENT: All PPE Supplied.
EXPECTED HOURS:
- WORK SCHEDULE: 54 hours per week, working 6 out of 7 days. This schedule remains consistent regardless of weather conditions.
- DURATION: Positions start around February & March 2025 & run through September 2025. This is not a FIFO (Fly In, Fly Out) role; you will be away for the entire period.
Start dates are approximate dependent on medical & security clearance, your notice period, & ice flight availability.

CRITERIA TO MEET:
- CITIZENSHIP: Be a NZ or US Citizen with a CURRENT Passport.
- RESIDENCY: Be currently & permanently residing in New Zealand.
- INTERVIEWS: Conducted via phone & video.
- MEDICAL TESTS: You will need to travel to Tauranga for dental & medical tests. We cover exam costs & provide flights for those outside Tauranga.
- LICENSING: Hold a current Full Class 1 Drivers License.
- CRIMINAL RECORD: Have a clean criminal record. MOJ Checks will be conducted as part of the interview process.
- TESTING: Must pass pre-employment & random drug/alcohol testing.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to follow instructions precisely & pay attention to detail.
