Tradestaff Global is seeking expressions of interest from experienced Construction Supervisors for a fixed-term project opportunity in the Pacific Islands (not PNG).

This is initially a 3-month fixed term contract, with strong potential to extend for the right candidate.  The client has a solid forward pipeline of Pacific-based project work, with possible longer-term opportunities.

This role will suit someone who is hands-on, practical and confident running a construction site through the final stages of delivery, including practical completion, defects, finishing works and project close-out.

This is not a role for someone who wants to sit in the office. We need someone who can be visible on site, lead from the front, support local teams and make sure work is completed safely, properly and to specification.

ABOUT OUR CLIENT:

Our client delivers practical construction and infrastructure projects in remote island locations, with a strong focus on water, wastewater and civil works.

Their projects support local communities and give candidates exposure to hands-on delivery, remote logistics and cross-cultural site environments.

From early-stage planning through to final delivery, they take on challenging projects where precision, experience and technical know-how matter.

As their presence in the Pacific continues to grow, they are looking for an experienced Construction Supervisor to help lead key projects in this evolving region.

THE ROLE:

The successful person will be responsible for day-to-day site supervision and helping drive the final stages of a building project.

The role includes:
  • Running day-to-day site activities.
  • Managing works through practical completion.
  • Handling defects, finishing works and close-out.
  • Supervising site teams and subcontractors.
  • Coordinating daily work plans and site priorities.
  • Monitoring progress and resolving site issues.
  • Ensuring work is delivered safely on time and to specification.
  • Conducting inspections and quality checks.
  • Checking work against drawings, specifications and standards.
  • Preparing site reports and project updates.
  • Liaising with project management, clients, consultants and local stakeholders.
  • Supporting planning, scheduling and resource allocation.
  • Supervising and mentoring local staff.
  • Promoting and maintaining a strong safety culture on site.
  • Taking responsibility for HSE requirements on site.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
  • Strong construction supervision experience.
  • Construction or Civil Site Management Qualifications.
  • Hands-on civil or building construction experience.
  • Proven ability to run a site and drive work through to completion.
  • Experience managing practical completion, defects and project close-out.
  • Strong understanding of HSE and site safety requirements.
  • Experience supervising site teams and subcontractors.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, schedules and method statements.
  • Experience with inspections, quality control and compliance checks.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Good problem-solving ability and common sense.
  • Ability to mentor and support local staff.
  • Good computer literacy and confidence using basic IT systems.
  • A practical, collaborative and inclusive leadership style.
  • Flexibility, resilience and the ability to adapt to changing project conditions.
  • Good fitness levels for hot and humid work conditions.
  • You must be IT literate, have strong attention to detail, be able to follow instructions and be comfortable completing detailed paperwork.
Previous experience working in remote or challenging environments would be an advantage. Pacific project experience would also be highly regarded.

WHAT’S ON OFFER:

  • Expression of Interest for a Pacific Islands project.
  • Initial 3-month fixed term contract.
  • Strong potential for extension for the right person.
  • Possible longer-term Pacific project opportunities.
  • Salary range of NZ$130,000 – $160,000 PA, depending on experience.
  • Opportunity to work on meaningful offshore project delivery.
  • Chance to support and mentor local teams.
  • Further project details to be discussed with suitable shortlisted candidates.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
  • This is a senior project leadership role.
  • Site management, reporting and stakeholder management experience is required.
  • Water, sanitation, utility or infrastructure project experience will be highly regarded.
  • Further role details will be discussed with suitable shortlisted candidates.
  • Candidates must hold a current New Zealand or Australian Passport.
  • Candidates must be currently and permanently based in New Zealand or Australia.
  • You must be comfortable working in a remote Pacific Island environment.
  • You must be able to pass pre-employment checks, including medical, drug and alcohol, and police checks.
  • A full Class 1 NZ Driver Licence or Class C Australian licences is required.
Overseas FIFO project work is not just another job — it is a different way of working, contributing and delivering.
