If you're a qualified Diesel Mechanic who's done with the same workshop, same commute and same weekly grind — this could be the change you've been waiting for.
Tradestaff Global is registering Expressions of Interest from experienced HEAVY DIESEL MECHANICS for upcoming work on a remote Pacific Island location. Some projects will move fast. Others are being planned further out. Either way, we're building a pool of proven tradespeople who are ready to go when the time comes.
THE ROLE
This is a hands-on Diesel Mechanic position with a few different elements to it. You'll be carrying out preventative and reactive maintenance across a variety of heavy plant machinery including:
- Excavators, bulldozers and graders
- Bobcats and front end loaders
- Trucks and other site vehicles
HOW IT WORKS
These are FIFO-style deployments. You work intensively on site during your rotation, then head home for a proper break before the next swing.
Indicative rotation options include:
- 4 weeks on / 2 weeks off
- 4 weeks on / 1 week off
- 3 weeks on / 3 weeks off
Expect full-time hours on site — remote project delivery is full on, with long days and potentially no days off during your swing. But the time between rotations is yours to do with as you please.
THE TRADE-OFF THAT MAKES IT WORTH IT
This isn't a Monday-to-Friday job — and that's the point.
You work hard while you're on. But the time you get back is yours. Use it to:
- Be present for family — school pickups, holidays, the everyday stuff
- Tackle those home projects you keep pushing back
- Fish, surf, travel or just properly switch off
- Reset before the next swing — not just recover
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
- A trade qualification in Diesel Mechanics or Heavy Plant
- Experience across a variety of heavy plant machinery
- A great work ethic, flexible attitude and solid common sense
- Willingness to assist other trades and departments as required
- Exceptional fitness — temperatures regularly hit 40°C with 85% humidity, and the pace is relentless
- Referees who can validate your hands-on experience
- Ability to pass pre-employment checks: medical, drug & alcohol, and police
- A New Zealand Passport and permanent NZ residency
- Return flights from major NZ airports
- On-site accommodation and meals provided
- Travel insurance and logistics support
- PPE supplied where required
- International project experience for your CV
- Backed by an experienced offshore project team
- This is an Expression of Interest — no confirmed start dates at this stage
- You must hold a New Zealand Passport
- You must be currently & permanently based in New Zealand
