THREE WEEKS.  ONE PROJECT.  THEN HOME.

Tradestaff Global is seeking Expressions of Interest from experienced Mechanical Fitters and Trade Assistants with proven mining experience for a one-off shutdown project in Australia.

If you’ve worked in mining, shutdown, industrial or heavy maintenance environments and you’re keen to put in a big few weeks away, this could be a great short-term opportunity.

TRADES WE WANT TO HEAR FROM:

  • Mechanical Fitters with proven mining experience
  • Experienced Trade Assistants with proven mining experience
Mining experience is essential for both roles.

THE PROJECT:

This is a short, intensive shutdown assignment in Australia.
The project is expected to commence early to mid-September, with the duration expected to be approximately 3 weeks, depending on your role and the project requirements.

You’ll travel from NZ, work through the shutdown period and return home once your assignment is complete.

This is one mobilisation only – there is no ongoing FIFO roster attached to this opportunity at this stage.

THE ROLE:

You’ll be working as part of an experienced shutdown team in a demanding industrial environment.

Mechanical Fitters may be involved in:
  • Shutdown maintenance and mechanical repair work.
  • Removal, inspection, repair and replacement of mechanical plant and equipment.
  • Dismantling and reassembling plant components as required.
  • Working around fixed plant and industrial equipment.
  • Working at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Completing physically demanding tasks during the shutdown.
  • Working alongside other experienced trades as part of a multi-trade shutdown team.
  • Following strict site safety, permit and PPE requirements.
Trade Assistants may be involved in:
  • Supporting Mechanical Fitters with shutdown maintenance and repair activities.
  • Assisting with the removal, handling and replacement of plant components and equipment.
  • Moving tools, equipment and materials around the work area.
  • Manual handling and other physically demanding shutdown tasks.
  • Assisting tradespeople while working around fixed plant and industrial equipment.
  • Working at heights and in confined spaces where required and appropriately certified.
  • Maintaining safe and tidy work areas throughout the shutdown.
  • Working as part of an experienced multi-trade shutdown team.
  • Following strict site safety, permit and PPE requirements.
For both roles, previous mining experience is essential.  You need to understand the expectations, safety standards and pace of work associated with mining and shutdown environments.

Shutdown work is full-on.  You’ll need to be comfortable working extended shifts, adapting to changing site requirements and maintaining high safety and workmanship standards throughout the project.

WHAT’S ON OFFER:

  • Return flights from NZ to AUS are paid for.
  • Accommodation & meals are provided.
  • Short-term project – approximately 3 weeks.
  • Competitive project rates.
  • Opportunity to gain Australian shutdown experience.
  • Work alongside experienced industrial tradespeople.
  • Support from Tradestaff Global throughout the mobilisation and project.
It’s a simple setup: fly over, get stuck into the shutdown, finish the project and fly home.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

We’re looking for experienced, reliable people who understand the demands of mining, shutdown and industrial project work.
  • Proven mining experience – essential for both Mechanical Fitters and Trade Assistants.
  • Relevant trade qualifications / licences / tickets for your role.
  • Proven shutdown, industrial or heavy maintenance experience.
  • Current Working at Heights certification.
  • Current Confined Space Entry certification.
