Tradestaff Global is inviting expressions of Interest from qualified & experienced EXCAVATOR OPERATORS, who also have the qualifications and experience to operate LOADERS. This role is working on McMurdo Station in Antarctica for upcoming summer season starting in Oct/Nov 2024. THE ROLE: There will be multiple roles and we need you to be able to operate BOTH a Loader & Excavator. We are looking for people from a construction background or very similar.
You will need the below licenses and experience of similar size plant machinery.
  • Excavator Operator – Class 2 & T Endorsement. Size 37T
  • Loader Operator – Class 2 & W Endorsement. Size 25T
  • Due to travel requirements, you need to be fully vaccinated for Covid-19.
  • Be Licensed as above & able to supply proof at interview stage.
  • Have referees who can validate your experience.
  • Supply a current up to date CV that outlines your skills/experience & types of projects/jobs worked on, size/hours on each machine.
  • Be IT literate & good with dealing with a lot of detailed paperwork.
  • Be patient when working through the application process. It’s a very long & detailed process to mobilise people & in some cases it may take a few months to work through.
Remote projects require a solid team effort, we’re looking for someone with the right attitude that’s willing to be part of a great hardworking supportive team.

Exceptional fitness is required due to long hours & extreme conditions.
  • Flights provided from any major NZ airport.
  • Food, shared accommodation, travel insurance provided.
  • $70 per hour depending upon machine.  Contract basis, paid fortnightly in NZ$
  • All PPE Supplied.

  • 54 hours per week (this won’t change if work is affected by weather)
  • Working 6 out of 7 days
This role is not for the faint hearted; you’ll be staying in one of the most isolated places in the world.
Start dates are subject to passing medicals, your notice period & ice flight availability.  You will likely leave between Oct / Nov 2024 and return in approximately March 2025.  You will be away the entire time.

The onboarding process is very lengthy due to medical requirements & background checks which will determine exact start dates.
The medicals are quite strict; you need to be in very good health/have excellent fitness.  You will also be required to do a Dental exam & will need good dental health to get clearance.
